New Feeder Bus Routes Announced

To enhance accessibility, CDA has introduced three new feeder bus routes that will link key areas across the city. These include:

  • Tarnol to Secretariat – This route will provide a direct connection between Tarnol and the Secretariat, allowing government employees and other commuters to travel more conveniently.
  • Bahria Town to Pirwadhai – Since Pirwadhai is a major transport hub, this route will benefit residents of Bahria Town by reducing travel time and offering a smoother commuting experience.
  • Rawat Chowk to Secretariat – This route will facilitate individuals traveling from Rawat Chowk to Islamabad’s administrative center, ensuring a seamless connection between residential and central areas.

Ensuring Maximum Accessibility Across the City

During a high-level meeting at CDA headquarters, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted the importance of accessibility. Therefore, these routes have been carefully planned to pass through business hubs, universities, hospitals, and other key locations. As a result, more people will be able to rely on public transport for their daily commutes.

New Initiatives for a Better Commuting Experience

To further improve public transport, CDA is launching several new initiatives:

  • Weekly and Monthly Cards: Passengers will soon have the option to purchase travel cards for weekly and monthly use, making fare payments easier and more cost-effective.
  • Mobile App for Commuters: To provide real-time updates on bus schedules, routes, and availability, CDA is also planning to introduce a dedicated mobile app. This will help commuters plan their journeys more efficiently.

Financial Assistance for Senior Citizens

In addition to these improvements, CDA has proposed a financial assistance program for certain groups, particularly senior citizens. With this initiative, elderly passengers will receive discounts on fares, making public transport more affordable for them.

A Step Toward Sustainable and Smart Public Transport

Islamabad is gradually converting its public transportation infrastructure. Recently, the city received 146 electric buses, with more expected to arrive soon. In addition, CDA has begun constructing a Zero-Point charging station to ensure the efficient operation of these buses.

With these developments, Islamabad is moving toward a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and commuter-friendly transportation system. Soon, residents will experience better connectivity, reduced travel times, and a more comfortable daily commute.
