Islamabad: On Monday, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) initiated a tree-planting campaign in Margalla Hills. The CDA’s environment wing claims that as part of this initiative, the local organization will plant a million trees on the hills. Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Information Minister, and Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s Climate Change Coordinator, planted a seed near Trail 3 to officially commence the drive.

The information minister stated that the Margalla Hills are an integral part of Islamabad’s identity and that it is the governments and everyone’s duty to keep these hills safe from danger. He further added that Islamabad possessed better air quality than other cities. According to Mr. Tarar, planting an increasing number of seedlings will help address the significant challenge of climate change. He requested everyone to actively participate in tree-planting programs.
In addition, Romina Khurshid Alam, the organizer for PM, encouraged planting trees and emphasized the necessity of concerted efforts to ensure the success of tree plantation projects. The CDA claims that the event’s goals is to combat climate change and raise awareness of environmental issues caused by heat waves and human activity.

Furthermore, the PM’s assistant and the information minister were acknowledged by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa for their participation and support at the CDA-organized event. The CDA chairman emphasized the pledges made by corporations to plant four million trees, with the civic body having already planted one million trees.
