The Park Road expansion was supposed to be finished by December of last year, but that date was not met as well. The deadline was extended to May. The contractor has now been instructed by the CDA chairman to speed up work on the project and finish it by August 14. Over the past two months, nighttime work has also been conducted on the project.
Mr. Randhawa was informed during the visit that while construction was almost finished on one side of the road (the right side facing Tramri), work on the other side—from Banigala Chowk to the the end point—would be finished in time. Moreover, the CDA management tried, a few months before July 15 to finish the project but all in vain. In accordance with Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) regulations, namely clause 42(f), the civic body had granted the National Logistics Cell the contract for the Rs1.9 billion road expansion project. This provision permitted bidding only among government organizations.

The particular road was only used by the people who lived in a few villages and towns, like Lakhwal, Banigala, Rawal Town, Shahzad Town, Tramri, and Chatta Bakhtawar, until roughly 20 years ago. However, it has grown to be one of the busiest road in the city as a result of the construction of housing societies, marquees, and educational facilities.
