Islamabad: To encourage sustainable development and protect agricultural lands, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has banned the construction of new private home projects in five tehsils: Rawalpindi, Gujarkhan, Taxila, Kallar Syedan, and Kahuta. The restriction will stay in place until the RDA’s Pre-Urban Site Development Plan is finally approved.

The authority has directed developers and investors to cease purchasing land for new housing developments inside these tehsils as part of its proactive measures to support environmentally responsible urban growth.
Furthermore, without prior consent, developers are not allowed to subdivide land for housing schemes sponsored by investors. The Pre-Urban Site Development Plan will outline residential zones, open spaces, agricultural areas, and environmentally sensitive areas, according to RDA sources. Tough enforcement actions, such as heavy fines, legal action, and the removal of unapproved structures, will be pursued against individuals who disobey the restriction.
