Throw and Grow: PTC and CDA Collaborates to Improve Margalla Hills’ Greenery

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) Limited have joined hands to promote the greenery of Islamabad’s iconic Margalla hills with the “Throw and Grow” program. The goal of this initiative is to get tourists and hikers involved in promoting the natural development of the area.

In order to take benefit of the positive Monsoon season for rapid sprouting, stalls offering seedballs made from native species like Sukhchain, Pine, and others. These have been set up at the entrance points of Trails 3 and Trail 5. Staff members will be available to assist participants in dispersing the seedballs as they hike. In addition, PTC has a track record of implementing community-focused initiatives. With two locations in Islamabad, it runs six nurseries around Pakistan. The authority has planted and dispersed more than 150 million seedlings since 1981.

In the year 2024, PTC purposes to contribute and plant over 2.5 million saplings across Pakistan to bring nature’s harmony. Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) continues to inspire people and requests them to join the “Throw and Grow” movement and contribute to the Margalla hills’ beauty and biodiversity!
