Islamabad: On Tuesday, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) joined hands to establish to determine strategies to improve cooperation and create a practical strategy with attainable targets. A delegation headed by FCDO’s Development Director Jo Moir was received by the CDA. The meeting, which was attended by the Director of the Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI), the Deputy Commissioner (ICT), and the Member Environment. The meeting focused on possible areas of cooperation to turn Islamabad into a “brand city” that will draw tourists and will make it stand out from other cities and will be known as Brand City Islamabad.

A press statement stated that CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa gave an extensive overview of the CDA’s main projects, all of which are intended to enhance Islamabad’s services and infrastructure via digitalization and a multifaceted strategy.
The meeting emphasized Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) potential as a long-term sustainable development strategy for Islamabad. Moreover, the cooperation will also encompass enhancing solid waste management tactics and refining urban property taxation schemes to get a fairer and more effective outcome.

The meeting also decided that a working group would be formed to identify avenues for enhanced cooperation between the two organizations It will help in creating a workable plan for short, medium, and long-term goals and beginning timelines to achieve these objectives.
