CDA Afforestation: Agreement For 700-Acre Afforestation Projects

Islamabad: As per the latest updates, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Climate Change Coordinator Romina Khurshid Alam have signed an agreement for a 700-acre afforestation project near Bhara Kahu.

According to specifics, Chairman CDA prior to discussing CDA afforestation project  gave a summary of the many projects executed by CDA, including water conservation, zero waste management, transportation solutions, environmental health, urban planning, and renewable energy projects. These initiatives are part of a larger plan to transform Islamabad into a smart modern city.

Furthermore to CDA Afforestation project, CDA is also developing a comprehensive network of bicycle routes to encourage environmentally friendly and sustainable modes of transportation throughout the city. Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized how extreme weather events, such as heatwaves and urban flooding, are increasing threats to people’s lives, and public infrastructure. She emphasized the need to create urban settings that are robust to climate change and able to handle similar difficulties.

Following this, Alam emphasized the significance of implementing climate-resilient policies, that come with long-term sustainability, equity, and an advanced standard of modern living in Pakistan. To build cities climate-resilient, she advocated for a strategy that incorporates infrastructure development, community participation, planning, and policy enforcement. This CDA afforestation project will help combat climate change.

She stated that rising temperatures, erratic rainfall patterns, and increasing sea levels are already posing serious climate dangers to many of the nation’s largest cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar.

Additionally, she suggested for relocating paper mulberry trees, whose pollen is known to induce severe allergies. She proposed renovating Islamabad’s parks to better serve the city’s green spaces and public leisure areas. These improvements would be in line with larger environmental goals, like expanding tree planting and fostering biodiversity in urban areas. Overall, this CDA afforestation project is good initiative on the part of CDA to help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and make the environment more secure from pollution.
