Galiyat Valley Making Records As 1 million Tourists Have Visited this Year

Islamabad: Shahrukh Ali, the director general of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), highlighted the need to encourage environmentally friendly travel while stressing the government’s dedication to sustainable tourism practices. He mentioned that over a million tourists have visited Galiyat Valley this year, marking a notable increase in tourism.

“We are dedicated to sustainable tourism practices that not only drive economic growth but also safeguard the unique environment and cultural heritage of our region,” Shahrukh Ali said in an interview with a private television channel on World Tourism Day.

He said that by prioritizing eco-friendly projects, Galiyat Valley will emerge as a leading sustainable tourism destination, highlighting the country’s dedication to environmental preservation and its stunning natural surroundings.

World Tourism Day is observed on September 27th, and according to Shahrukh Ali, its purpose is to increase public awareness of the social, cultural, political, and economic significance of tourism as well as its role in accomplishing the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2024 topic, “Tourism and Peace,” emphasizes travel’s contribution to fostering intercultural dialogue, international understanding, and world peace.

Additionally, he stated that the Galiyat Tourism Authority of the Galiyat Valley is leading initiatives to encourage green travel in the area, which includes creating state-of-the-art parking facilities to enhance visitor satisfaction. To provide excellent lodging and services, over 50 hotels and guest houses in Galiyat have also registered.
